“Dr. Rayner’s healing formulas are gentle, subtle and effective. I used the remedy as directed and found that it worked. There was an immediate release of clogged feelings that helped me.”

“I was experiencing frustration with another person and muscle tested to use the essence ‘forgiveness’. On a scale of 0-10 my initial frustration was an 8 (10 being very frustrated.) I took the essence after saying a prayer for it to work well for me. Within minutes my frustration was down to a 3. More than a day later I would say it is at a 2. This is someone I had been feeling frustration towards for a long time. Nice job Dr. Rayner.”

FAQ

While living in Maui, Linda was profoundly affected by the flowers on the island. Each flower has its own unique healing properties that relate to its innate nature, but also to the environment it grows in. While spending time outdoors, Linda was inspired with information about the healing properties of the flowers and their relationship to different healing traditions and psychological traits.

She created her first collection of elixirs called Kalei Maui (pronounced either KAH-leh-ee or kah-LAY-ee).

Kalei means “the beloved” or “the wreath of flowers”. Maui means “life”.

Later that year she created a second collection of flower essences – Kalei Bermuda. (Bermuda means “charming”)

Kalei Maui

includes subsets addressing the meridians, aura, enneagram and the Huna principles.

Kalei Bermuda

includes subsets addressing the goddess archetypes and auxiliary energy systems.

The following year she moved on to creating environmental earth elixirs. The vibration of natural objects like leaves, fruit, roots, sand, soil, rocks, crystals, color and the environment (essences made at a special place or time) can be imprinted into water by placing the objects directly or in
close proximity to the water in sunlight or moonlight.

The Star of David Light Elixirs were created in Bermuda.

The Zia Light Elixirs were made from specimens from New Mexico.

The Alba Light Elixirs were created during the week after the 2010 winter solstice/full moon/lunar eclipse in the highlands of Scotland.

The Freedom Light Elixirs were created around Atlanta, Georgia.

FAQ about Flower Essences

What are flower essences?

Flower essences are infusions made from flowers – the highest manifestation of the life force of a plant. Water has the ability to capture and hold electromagnetic energetic patterns, so by placing flowers into a bowl of water, the vibrational healing frequency of the flower is imprinted in the water. This infusion can then be preserved with alcohol, glycerin or apple cider vinegar.

There are many methods used to aid the imprinting process –sunlight, moonlight, boiling or lasers. Essences can also be created by placing the water close to the desired source (which is used for rare or poisonous sources).

Similarly, imprints can be made using other natural objects like leaves, bark, fruit, roots, sand, soil, rocks, crystals, color and environmental (essences made at a special place or time).

They are referred to as essences in the US, and remedies in the UK. Elixir is another term often used, referring to a liquid taken by mouth for health purposes.

How are they different from essential oils or herbal tinctures?

Essential oils, used in aromatherapy, are made by harvesting the flower or plant and crushing it, to extract the oil, which has a distinctive aroma. They are concentrated, oil-based and can be potentially toxic. Most are for external use only, and some are contra-indicated for use in pregnancy and certain medical conditions.

Herbal tinctures are concentrated extracts of different plant parts and are typically taken internally to treat physical symptoms.

With flower essences only a few flowers are needed, so the plant is not disturbed or harvested. After the infusion is created, the mother tincture is then diluted to make a stock bottle. Since it is so diluted it only contains minute traces of the chemical components of the original flower, making it unscented and non-toxic. They have no side effects, can be used alongside other healing therapies and are safe for children and pets. They are mainly used to promote awareness of emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances, which can be at the root of physical illness

.

What is the history of flower essences?

Using the energy of flowers for enhancing well being has been used by indigenous cultures of thousands of years.

Swiss physician and alchemist Paracelsus used to collect dew from flowers in the 16th century to treat his patients.

In the early 1930s, British physician and homeopath Dr Edward Bach was looking for a healing method to support his belief that disease resulted from a conflict between the soul and mind. He created a line of 38 flower remedies that gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions.

Since then, 100s of essences have been created from flowers around the globe.

How do the essences work?

Essences work on the principle of vibrational healing. The law of resonance asserts that different vibrational frequencies will have an effect on each other. Humans, as beings of energy, are affected when high vibrational flower infusions are introduced into their energy field. Resonance is set up in harmony with the qualities of the flower, leading to an elevation in the person’s vibration. This can remove blockages which inhibit the free flow of energy in the physical and subtle bodies.

In contrast to pharmaceuticals which suppress symptoms, essences are a catalyst for emotional change, personal growth and transformation, by stimulating awareness. When the chosen essence matches the core mental or emotional challenges they are the most effective. The response may be quick and powerful or may be more subtle. Limitations and disharmonies begin to change, leading to a sense of peacefulness, calm and clarity, greater self awareness and an improved ability to cope. Practice in observing our inner state allows greater understanding of the essences influence. If superficial or transitory symptoms are the focus, you may not notice much impact.

Essences are neither a panacea nor a placebo. It is not necessary to believe in them to experience their benefits, just a willingness to try them.
Although the focus is on emotional, mental and spiritual aspects, there can be physical effects, as they work on the underlying conflicts and tensions that contribute to the onset of illness.

How do I choose?

There are a variety of ways to choose essences:

  • Reading through the descriptions of the essences and finding the one(s) that most precisely match your current situation.
  • Looking at the pictures of the flowers and choosing the one that catches your eye
  • Using muscle testing or a pendulum
  • Asking in meditation for guidance with the choice
  • Consulting with a flower essence practitioner (especially if it is an intense or deep emotional experience)

If you take the “wrong” essence there will be no effect because there is no “blockage” for the essence to dissolve.

How do I take them?

The typical dose for flower essences is a few drops under the tongue or in a glass of water four times a day.

But since they work on the vibrational level, other ways that introduce them to the energy field are also affective.

  • applied topically to pulse points, acupressure points, chakras or the soles of the feet (great for infants). Topical application can be especially helpful for sensitive clients.
  • added to massage oil or lotion,
  • In bath water
  • diluted in a spray bottle to spritz the environment.

People may feel immediate changes, but typically there is a more gradual effect with use over a period of time. Since the essences work vibrationally, it is the frequency of use rather than the quantity that provides more benefit.

Up to seven essences can be taken together, in a glass or bottle of water for that day, or mixed in a dosage bottle for a personalized combination.
Since there are only traces of actual physical substance, essences are non-toxic and cannot be “overdosed”. However, those who are sensitive to the alcohol preservative may be affected if too much is taken.

It is possible to feel worse taking essences due to temporary exacerbation of the condition – known as a “healing crisis”. You can recognize the process of emotional release and continue the course; reduce the dosage; or stop temporarily if you feel you cannot cope (while using another essence to support you during this time).

What is the difference between stock bottles and dosage bottles?

A stock dilution is the first dilution made from the mother tincture. Single flower essences can be used at this dilution.

A dosage or treatment bottle can be made using 2-4 drops of the stock essence in a glass dropper bottle with pure water and a tsp of preservative (brandy, apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin). Up to seven different remedies can be combined in a treatment bottle.
